God’s Never Ending Faithfulness

I found a gem today during my daily devotion time.  God’s faithfulness really never ends!  His promises will endure, from generation to generation!

3 Live here as a foreigner in this land, and I will be with you and bless you. I hereby confirm that I will give all these lands to you and your descendants, just as I solemnly promised Abraham, your father. 4 I will cause your descendants to become as numerous as the stars of the sky, and I will give them all these lands. And through your descendants all the nations of the earth will be blessed. 5 I will do this because Abraham listened to me and obeyed all my requirements, commands, decrees, and instructions.” 6 So Isaac stayed in Gerar. – Gen 26:3-6 NLT

What a marvelous truth!  God promised Abraham that His descendants would be more numerous than the sands on the sea shore and more than the stars in the sky(Gen 22:17).  We see the very same promise given to Isaac!

But there is a catch…

So many people expect God to follow through on His promises, yet are unwilling to do their part.  You see, this whole Christianity thing…it’s about relationship, it’s about a partnership.  Can God do it alone? Absolutely!  But that is what makes the One True God so different than all of these other false gods…He wants to do it together!  Just as in the Garden of Eden, Adam walked in the cool of the day with God!  God wants relationship with the pinnacle of His creation, we were created in His image!

Yes, GOD IS FAITHFUL!!!!!!  But our obedience will determine if we ever see the fulfillment of God’s promises…and even then, like Abraham, we may never see it in our lifetime.

God is not some big vending machine in the sky!  You don’t “Insert Request Here” and “Get Your Answer Here”.  IF God wanted a bunch of mindless robots, He would have created those…but He didn’t…

Has God promised you something?  Has He spoken to you concerning great and mighty things? He is Faithful!  Ask Him what steps you should take, ask Him to direct your paths, His words are like a lamp unto your feet!

If you have stumbled, it is okay!  God’s Mercies are new every morning! His Grace covers a multitude of mistakes!  Humble yourself before Him and admit your faults, He will forgive you!

Even Isaac messed up! A few short verses later we see Isaac made the same mistake his father made…He lied.

7 When the men who lived there asked Isaac about his wife, Rebekah, he said, “She is my sister.” He was afraid to say, “She is my wife.” He thought, “They will kill me to get her, because she is so beautiful.” 8 But some time later, Abimelech, king of the Philistines, looked out his window and saw Isaac caressing Rebekah. … 10 “How could you do this to us?” Abimelech exclaimed. “One of my people might easily have taken your wife and slept with her, and you would have made us guilty of great sin.” 11 Then Abimelech issued a public proclamation: “Anyone who touches this man or his wife will be put to death!” – Gen 26:7-8, 10-11 NLT

Any God still blesses Isaac:

12 When Isaac planted his crops that year, he harvested a hundred times more grain than he planted, for the LORD blessed him. 13 He became a very rich man, and his wealth continued to grow. 14 He acquired so many flocks of sheep and goats, herds of cattle, and servants that the Philistines became jealous of him. – Gen 26:12-14 NLT

The life of a Christ follower must be marked with Obedience.  If we are not obedient to the Call of Christ, than we must question whether we are really following Him…He is oh so faithful, but you must take up your cross and follow Him…
