One of my Biblical role models and heroes is a man that was unmistakable, a man made famous because of his destiny. This man’s story provokes my heart and speaks deeply to the core of who I am. I do not worship this man, but I believe it is my destiny to be like this man.
John the Baptist
3 “The voice of one crying in the wilderness: ‘Prepare the way of the LORD; Make His paths straight.’ ” 4 John came baptizing in the wilderness and preaching a baptism of repentance for the remission of sins. – Mar 1:3-4 NKJV
This man has always fascinated me. He lived a very peculiar life, many religious leaders thought he was crazy. His life consisted of living in the wilderness, dressed in camels hair, eating locust and honey, he was a Nazarite. John knew his destiny, he knew who he was and what he was called to.
There is a passage in Mark 6 that speaks of John the Baptist and King Herod. Ultimately John is thrown in jail and beheaded. Yet we see this jewel in the midst of the massage.
for Herod respected John; and knowing that he was a good and holy man, he protected him. Herod was greatly disturbed whenever he talked with John, but even so, he liked to listen to him. – Mar 6:20 NLT
I want to live such a life, and have God speak through me in such a way that people are disturbed whenever they talk to me, yet they are drawn in and want to listen. Speech truly seasoned with salt. A lifestyle that backs what I believe.
This is who I am destined to be. This is who I want to be.
