Not So Traditional Easter Message

This blog post is not so much for people who do not follow Jesus, this post is geared towards those whom claim the name of Christ(Christianity) and claim to be Followers of Him.

Today marks the day of celebration, that our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ defeated death and sin by raising from the dead.  This reality is an elementary block of the Christian Faith.  Without this truth, Christianity is pointless.

“I [am] He who lives, and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen. And I have the keys of Hades and of Death. -Jesus {Rev 1:18 NKJV}

What do you think Jesus died for?

*hint: It is not just your salvation

“The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have [it] more abundantly. – Jhn 10:10 NKJV

What is life and life abundantly?

I will tell you what life is not.

The abundant life is not boring or drudgery.  The abundant life is not filled with complacency.  The abundant life does not look like lip service.  The abundant life is not getting drunk every weekend.  The abundant life is not filled with sex with someone other than your spouse.  The abundant life is not filled with selfishness.  The abundant life is not all about you or your wants and needs.

The abundant life is freedom to serve God with full abandonment.

It is all fine and dandy that you will probably go to church today, after all that is what every ‘good’ Christian does, right!?  We go to Church/Mass every religious Holiday…Christmas and Easter…

You could go to church every day of the week and not be saved or a follower of Jesus.  The beautiful thing about salvation is that Jesus did all the work.  BUT there is a reality to a truly transformed life of someone who follows Jesus.

The life of a Christian should be marked by two things.  REPENTANCE.  LOVE.

17 From that time Jesus began to preach and to say, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” – Mat 4:17 NKJV
3 “I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish. – Luk 13:3 NKJV

– – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – –

30 ‘And you shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ This [is] the first commandment. 31 “And the second, like [it, is] this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.” – Mark 12:30-31 NKJV

This type of Love that Jesus is speaking of is Agape: a love that is completely unconditional

This word is the same word that we find in John 3:16:

16 “For God so loved(AGAPE) the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. – Jhn 3:16 NKJV

We have been called to Love just as Jesus has Loved.  This is what it looks like to be a follower of Jesus.  Jesus did not just come to bring eternal salvation, He came that you would love and have life and life abundant!

For a follower of Jesus not to live in this way, is a disgrace to the Cross.  Who the hell do we think we are to assume Christ died for our comfort?   Jesus did not die so we could simply give Him lip service!  We cheapen the price the Jesus paid when we claim the name of Christ, but live our lives how we see fit.

For the love of Christ compels us, because we judge thus: that if One died for all, then all died; – 2Co 5:14 NKJV

The call of Christ is to come and lay down your life, not pick it up.  Would the Love of Jesus overwhelm and compel you to live a life worthy of your calling!  FOR HE IS RISEN!

“When Christ calls a man, he bids him come and die.” ― Dietrich Bonhoeffer

*Understand  this post is out of love, because there is so much more to life.  We are passionate about seeing the Gospel of Jesus lived out in every Christian’s life.  Sometimes we all need a wake up call.
