The propitious smile of Heaven can never be expected on a nation that disregards the eternal rules of order and right which Heaven itself has ordained. -George Washington 1789, Inaugural Address
God who gave us life gave us liberty. And can the liberties of a nation be thought secure when we have removed their only firm basis, a conviction in the minds of the people that these liberties are of the Gift of God? That they are not to be violated but with His wrath? Indeed, I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just; that His justice cannot sleep forever. -Thomas Jefferson, 1781
In my lifetime I have seen many unjust and unrighteous decrees come from Government at the National, State, and Local level. Just before my lifetime, one of the most evil decrees was ever made from the Supreme Court. Roe v Wade, ultimately opening the door and paving the way for the legality of murder.
During this time, the church remained ever quiet. Her silence was deafening, her silence sealed her fate and just like the silent screams from the womb, her voice was ultimately taken away, snuffed out. The only difference between the silence of the Church and the silent cries of a child in the womb, the Church has a choice to cry out, to be a voice to the voiceless.
It is God’s mercy that He has not executed His judgement and disdain for our unrighteous laws!
If we shall suppose that American slavery is one of those offences which, in the providence of God, must needs come, but which, having continued through His appointed time, He now wills to remove, and that He gives both North and South this terrible war as the woe due to those by whom the offence came, shall we discern therein any departure from those divine attributes which the believers in a living God always ascribe Him? Fondly do we hope, fervently do we pray, that this mighty scourge of war may speedily pass away. Yet, if God will that is continue until all the wealth piled by the bondsman’s two hundred and fifty years of unrequited toil shall be sunk, and until every drop of blood drawn with the lash shall be paid by another drawn with the sword, as was said three thousand years ago, so still it must be said “the judgements of the Lord are true and righteous altogether.” -Abraham Lincoln, 1865, Second Inaugural Address
If the Civil War was a judgement on America for the bloodshed of Slavery, what will the judgement look like because of the bloodshed of Abortion?
It is no surprise that our Nation is in the position that it is in, when we fully reject God and His divine order, chaos comes forth. When evil is allowed to go unchecked, absolute destruction comes. Look at Adolf Hitler, evil unchecked. Great destruction came because so many turned a blind eye to the atrocities. It was not until it was too late and millions more lives taken, before action was taken.
Utter destruction and chaos came to Europe because they allowed this Evil to rise up and run rampant.
Abraham Lincoln recognized that we could not survive as a free land when some men could decide that others were not fit to be free and should therefore be slaves. Likewise, we cannot survive as a free nation when some men decide that others are not fit to live and should be abandoned to abortion and infanticide. -Ronald Reagan, 1983
America is receiving her reward.
And so we in the words of Ronald Reagan:
“America was founded by people who believed that God was their rock and safety. I recognize we must be cautious in claiming that God is on our side, but I think it’s alright to keep asking if we’re on His side…The time has come to turn to God and reassert our trust in Hm for the healing of America…our country is in need of and ready for a spiritual renewal…”
