Things are not always as they seem | Palm Sunday

Things are not always as they seem…

There was a palpable energy in the crowd that day.  There seemed to be something different about Jesus entry into Jerusalem this time.  Every person laying down clothes and palm branches, all the while Jesus rides in on a donkey.

The people started to yell:

9 Then those who went before and those who followed cried out, saying: “Hosanna! ‘Blessed [is] He who comes in the name of the LORD!’ 10 Blessed [is] the kingdom of our father David That comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest!” – Mar 11:9-10 NKJV

Many of the people thought they understood the scriptures:

14 Then Jesus, when He had found a young donkey, sat on it; as it is written: 15 “Fear not, daughter of Zion; Behold, your King is coming, Sitting on a donkey’s colt.” – Jhn 12:14-15 NKJV

9 “Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your King is coming to you; He [is] just and having salvation, Lowly and riding on a donkey, A colt, the foal of a donkey. – Zec 9:9 NKJV

You see, the people thought, “THIS IS IT! HE IS FINALLY GOING TO TAKE THE THRONE!!!!”

The people knew that their Messiah was coming, but they did not understand the times.  They assumed Jesus was going to take the throne, and yet we find a completely different story unfold.

Imagine being there, in that moment…place yourself into this story…

Things are not always as they seem…

Salvation is coming, but not in the way the people expected…

It is a necessity that we are able to rightly judge and understand the times and seasons.

As we enter Holy Week, allow yourself to feel the hope of salvation!  Join into the celebration of King Jesus!  For He is coming to rule and reign!  There is hope, He is not far off!  Join in  and allow yourself to be overcome with the Joy that comes with this man riding on a donkey.
