Is There No Value?

“It is a poverty to decide that a child must die so that you may live as you wish.”  ― Mother Teresa

“It seems to me as clear as daylight that abortion would be a crime.”
― Mahatma Gandhi

People from all over the world admire and hold in high esteem both Mother Teresa and Mohatma Gandhi. They come from two completely different religious backgrounds, and yet these two examples of peace hold to the same tune.

Where has our value of life gone?  Is life not scared anymore?  I believe that one of the worlds greatest tragedies is the slaughter of millions of innocent lives for the sake of convenience.  The #1 reason for abortion is an unwanted child.

It is a sad reflection on a society that we value ourselves and our own convenience over another life.  God forbid we actually have to take the focus off of ourselves for a minute to look after another human being!

No one can say it better than Mother Teresa:

America needs no words from me to see how your decision in Roe v. Wade has deformed a great nation. The so-called right to abortion has pitted mothers against their children and women against men. It has shown violence and discord at the heart of the most intimate human relationships. It has aggravated the derogation of the father’s role in an increasingly fatherless society. It has portrayed the greatest of gifts ~ a child ~ as a competitor, an intrusion, and an inconvenience. It has nominally accorded mothers unfettered dominion over the independent lives of their physically dependent sons and daughters. And in granting this unconscionable power, it has exposed many women to unjust and selfish demands from their husbands or other sexual partners. Human rights are not a privilege conferred by government. They are every human being’s entitlement by virtue of his humanity. The right to life does not depend, and must not be declared to be contingent, on the pleasure of anyone else, not even a parent or a sovereign.”

The greatest sin in the realm of abortion is the reality that the Church in America remains silent in her pulpits about the tragedy of this reality.

I know of many pastors who have counseled young people to have abortions.  The fact that they have bought into the lie that the future of those two people who made the choice to have sex is more important than the life and future of the life growing inside the young mother!

The waters of reality were polluted by one of the greatest master minds behind the abortion reality, Margaret Sanger.  Many of the ideals she trumpeted have now become the foundation of thought behind stealing the innocence of a child by killing it.  She trumpeted that a ‘healthy’ sex life consisted of multiple partners and that a woman should not have to ‘deal with the consequence of child birth’ because of this behavior!  In addition she believed in an Elite Race, in fact, Hitler was an ardent follower and supporter of Sanger’s group.  Abortion and Birth Control came into the picture not because Sanger believed in a womans choice, her ultimate goal was to do her part in creating an Elite Race:

“Birth control must lead ultimately to a cleaner race.” ― Margaret Sanger

We do not want word to go out that we want to exterminate the Negro population, and the minister is the man who can straighten out that idea if it ever occurs to any of their more rebellious members. [Explaining rationale for using prominent black leaders to advocate birth control and abortion]” ― Margaret Sanger

Our attitude as followers of Jesus need to be of compassion and willingness to lay down our own lives when others refuse to lay down their own:

“Give that child to me. I want it. I will care for it. I am willing to accept any child who would be aborted and to give that child to a married couple who will love the child and be loved by the child.” ― Mother Teresa
