Hope for Today | Risen from the Dead

In the very thing you are battling today, there is a HOPE for today!  You can overcome because the Very same spirit that raised Christ from the dead, lives in you.‘ There is power for you today.  There is HOPE for you today!  He has the Victory and He has given it to you!

The very foundation of Christianity is the History of Jesus Christ.  After all, to claim the name of Christianity we claim to be ‘little christs’.  This history spans beyond the limits of Genesis to Revelation.  Before coming to the earth, through the womb of a virgin, He sat at the right hand of the father for all of eternity past.  And in the twinkling of an eye, He descended from His throne  to enter time and space, to be confined into a mortal body.

If you are a follower of Jesus, you are aware that Jesus lived a life of perfection, pure and spotless, that He would die to bear the burden of all human history; past, present, and future. And so from this, we have HOPE!  That when all is said and done, because Jesus defeated Death, we might have eternity with Him!

Jesus could not give this opportunity without raising from the dead.  He could not just die as a perfect sacrifice, He had to rise from the dead!  This is the Glory of the season(we should never forget) Easter is the celebration of that overcoming and of that Victory!

But we see this strange account just as Jesus dies on the cross and is resurrected:

50 And Jesus cried out again with a loud voice, and yielded up His spirit.

51 Then, behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; and the earth quaked, and the rocks were split,

52 and the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised; 53 and coming out of the graves after His resurrection, they went into the holy city and appeared to many. – Mat 27:50-53 NKJV

We see some of the first fruits of the Resurrection of Jesus!  Can you imagine, Jesus is resurrected, and all of a sudden Grandpa Joe who passed away 40 years ago shows up at your front door?????

There is a Hope beyond salvation from sins with Jesus’ Victory over sin and death, something greater than eternity.

Resurrected Bodies

24 Then [comes] the end, when He delivers the kingdom to God the Father, when He puts an end to all rule and all authority and power. … 26 The last enemy [that] will be destroyed [is] death. …

51 Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed– 52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. – 1Co 15:24, 26, 51-52 NKJV

BUT what does Jesus say?

30 “Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. 31 “And He will send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other. – Mat 24:30-31 NKJV

Friends, there is great HOPE in this reality!  YOU WILL BE RAISED FROM THE DEAD!  YOU WILL BE GIVEN AN INCORRUPTIBLE BODY!  The very same type of body Jesus has!  One that has been raised from the dead!

Not only is there HOPE for later on, there is a great HOPE for now!  The great reality is Jesus is coming back soon.  With this perspective comes an urgency.  But it also gives a great HOPE!

The beautiful reality of this relationship with Jesus, is that you do not need to wait to experience the promise of Life to the Fullest.  The greatest Hope we have is that Jesus has already defeated the only thing the enemy really could use, death.  Not even in death can we be separated from Jesus.

Allow your eyes to lift from your current battle, to see Jesus standing Victorious!  Allow the longing to be with Him to drive you into His presence!
