One of my all time favorite passages of scripture is Revelation 19. There is a gem in it’s midst:
11 Now I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse. And He who sat on him [was] called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and makes war.
12 His eyes [were] like a flame of fire, and on His head [were] many crowns. He had a name written that no one knew except Himself. – Rev 19:11-12 NKJV
This He that John speaks of is Jesus. Revelation 19, to me, is one of the most powerful scriptures there are. We see a picture of Jesus that not many are willing to talk about.
Do you know why Jesus was on a white horse? Because He is going to make war!
13 He [was] clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God. – Rev 19:13 NKJV
Do you know why His robe is dipped in blood? Because He is slaying the nations, His enemies!
15 Now out of His mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it He should strike the nations. And He Himself will rule them with a rod of iron. He Himself treads the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. – Rev 19:15 NKJV
Jesus, treads the winepress! This word picture is very important! Have you ever watched or seen anyone get in a big barrel or vat and crush wine grapes with their feet? It is very messy! Jesus garments become saturated and stained with blood. Just like someone treading the winepress.
I have a huge heart for Justice. True Justice. Righteous Justice. This is one of the many reasons this passage is my favorite! Jesus is executing His Perfect Justice! And in the midst of it:
14 And the armies in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, followed Him on white horses. – Rev 19:14 NKJV
We are clothed in WHITE and CLEAN fine linen! In the midst of war, in the midst of battle, in the midst of hell, we follow HIM! He is the one whose clothes get saturated through and through! And it is all because HIS NAME:
FAITHFUL AND TRUE
Friends, no matter what is going on in your life, Jesus IS Faithful and True! He is the one who treads the winepress alone! (Isa 63:3) He goes to battle for us! He is ALWAYS FAITHFUL! His faithfulness may not look how we expect it, just like Revelation 19, many do not like that story of Jesus, but it is still Jesus! His Faithfulness will always Triumph!
